Suspended Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) anodes are core components of Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) systems, designed to be hung from structures like platforms or vessels via insulated cables. By connecting to a rectifier, these anodes release protective current through electrochemical reactions, polarizing the steel structure to a potential more negative than -0.85V (vs. CSE) to halt corrosion. This design completely eliminates the need for risky underwater welding and allows for rapid retrieval to the deck for maintenance. It is widely used in life extension projects for jackets, FPSO hulls, and wharf piles.
