MMO (Mixed Metal Oxide) skid-mounted anodes are highly efficient auxiliary anodes used in impressed current cathodic protection systems. Their operating principle involves a titanium substrate coated with precious metal oxide layers. A DC current is applied via a potentiostat, prompting a catalytic oxidation reaction on the anode surface to release electrons. These electrons flow through the soil or water medium toward the protected metal structure, shifting its overall potential negatively to achieve cathodic polarization, thereby suppressing electrochemical corrosion. Due to their dimensional stability, long service life, uniform current distribution, and ease of installation, they are widely deployed in harsh environments such as offshore platforms, bridges, steel piles, and wharves.
