The canistered MMO tubular anode is a prepackaged auxiliary anode assembly for impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) systems. It consists of an MMO titanium tube anode core centrally positioned within a perforated canister, with the annular space densely packed with calcined petroleum coke carbonaceous backfill. By utilizing the highly conductive coke to expand the effective surface area from the small physical anode into a large virtual anode column, this design achieves low groundbed resistance and long-term operational stability with minimal excavation or borehole diameter. It is widely used in shallow vertical, deep well, and horizontal trench groundbeds for the protection of pipeline networks and storage tank bottoms.
