This is an integrated replacement component that combines a sacrificial anode rod and a heat trap nipple in one unit. It installs on the hot water outlet side of a storage-type water heater. The assembly consists of a magnesium (or aluminum) anode rod, a zinc-plated steel nipple body, an internal polymer liner (polypropylene or PEX), and a heat-trapping mechanism (ball or flapper type). Various anode rod lengths (24", 33", 43") are available to fit different tank heights.
