Reed Switch

Reed Switch also known as a Dry Reed Tube, is an electrical switching device controlled by magnetic fields to open/close circuits. Its core consists of two ferromagnetic reed blades (typically iron-nickel alloy) hermetically sealed within a glass capsule filled with inert gas (e.g., nitrogen) or under vacuum. The reed blade contacts are plated with hard metals such as rhodium or ruthenium to enhance contact longevity and stability. These blades overlap with a microscopic gap of several micrometers between them.
